Can, should a story about domestic violence be given to children in the form of a picture book? We think Daniel Martín and Ramón Trigo have done it with much sensitivity and intelligence, offering us a very good book, which can be useful for dealing with the issue of domestic violence, especially at school.
Everynight, a little girl sees a strange, huge form by her bedroom window, a form she can’t identify. It could be a huge vampire, a big wave… or could it be a fly landing on the glass of the lighthouse, which would reflect it and make it bigger, looking like a monster?
The text by Blanca Trigo (a little girl) is illustrated by her father, Ramón Trigo, in a masterful contrast of black and blue colors.
“This book, about a mystery set out in a boundless night, has expressionist pictorial illustrations that are clarified by some touches of humor, enriching the thoughts and reflections generated by this work… the two-pages layout gives life to a successful counterpoint, which is sometimes superb in its concepts.” (CLIJ, Children and Young Adults’ Literature Notebooks)
