Tolgonái, an old peasant woman, recalls her life: her youth, her marriage, her three sons and the beginning of what seemed to be a happy and easy life. However, the outbreak of the World War II shakes her way of living. She loses her sons, one after another, and her husband also dies in the battlefront. Finally, she is alone, only accompanied by her elder son’s wife, to whom she expresses all her love.
But this support neither survives: her daughter in law dies while she is giving birth, a baby who is the result of her relationship with a strange. However, in spite of these strikes of life, Tolgonáis does not break apart, and she keeps unbreakable her faith on life.
