Cuatrogatos Foundation, a renowned non-profit organisation which focuses on research in Spanish literature for children and young adults, has presented its "top 20 books by Iberoamerican authors" list.
"These 20 books are highly recommended because of their literary and artistic values", in the words of a member of the Foundation. These books have been chosen by a multidisciplinary team with a shared interest in creating and analyzing Children and Young Adults' Literature.
"Clarice was a queen" has been selected to contribute the top 20 books list, awarded with the Cuatrogatos Foundation Award, and it has been reviewed as follow:
"A beatiful and enigmatic picture book that displays parallel stories -text and pictures, reality and fantasy- in order to show the drama and the dreams of an exclude human being and allowing her to trascend the social invisibility. Clarice is a moving character because of her helplessness, the sadness of her future we can foresee and because her ability to dream. This is a challenging proposal, which is made richer thanks to the sensitivity and mutual understanding of the reader, who can imagine the underlying stories".
