The International Children's book day, on or around Hans Christian Andersen's birthday, April 2, is celebrated every year.
Andersen was a Danish writer who created theater plays, poems, novels and, above all, a large amount of books for children. Many of these books became well known around the world and currently they are classics in Children’s Literature.
Hans Christian Andersen Literature Award, created in 1957 in honour of this distinguished writer, is awarded bi-anually to both a writer and an illustrator who have made significant contributions to Children’s Literature.
Here in Lóguez we are proud to include several Hans Christian Andersen Literature Award winner authors in our catalogue and we would like to make use of this opportunity to highlight their Works:
- In 1976, Cecil Bodker received the Literature Award. In Lóguez you can find her book El hijo de María.
- In 1986 Robert Ingpen, illustrator of Ziba vino en un barco, was awarded with the prize.
- In 1994 Jörg Müller was the one who was awarded for his illustrations. We include in our catalogue his version of “The Tin Soldier”, El soldadito de plomo, which is indeed based on a famous Andersen’s story, and El gran gris.
- In 1998 el Tomi Ungerer was the awarded illustrator, whose book El Hombre Niebla was published by us a few years ago.
- In 2006 Wolf Erlbruch was the one who was given the award. You can find several of his books in our book series: El rey y el mar, El águila que no quería volar, El milagro del oso y El oso en el parque de juegos.
- In 2008 two of our authors were awarded with the prize: Jürg Schubiger (writer of Cuando la Muerte vino a nuestra casa), received the Literature Award, while Roberto Innocenti (the artist who created Rosa Blanca) was awarded with the Illustration prize.
- 2010 was the year of brilliant Jutta Bauer, whose work is broadly published by Lóguez: La reina de los colores, El ángel del abuelo, Madrechillona, Sencillamente tú, Bona nox, Una pequeña casa en el bosque, Una vida cualquiera, Yo pasé por el Infierno, El mensajero del rey, all book series about litlle Emma and, her brand new book release, ¿Te acuerdas?
- And finally (up today), in last year 2016 Rotraut Susanne Berner, illustrator of La princesa viene a las cuatro, El pes and Cuando la Muerte vino a nuestra casa was awarded with the Illustration Prize.
We feel really proud and honored by having all these great artists among our authors and we highly recommend you to read their books.
